The La Cañada Choral Artists
sing at Notre-Dame iN Paris
on April 5th, 2019.
Notre-Dame Cathedral, Paris’ most visited un-ticketed site, with upwards of 14 million visitors per year, is a masterpiece of French Gothic architecture.
Being the focus of Catholic Paris for seven centuries, its vast interior accommodates 6,000 worshippers. Highlights include; three spectacular rose windows, treasury, and bell towers which can be climbed. From the North Tower, 400-odd steps spiral to the top of the western facade, where you’ll find yourself face-to-face with frightening gargoyles and a spectacular view of Paris.
LCHS at Notre-Dame
Prior to the LCHS at Notre-Dame highlight matinee concert as part of the 2019 ENCHANTEZ iNCANTATO CONCERT TOURS journey, the singers will get to spend some time in this beautiful space. There is so much to see and admire. Inside, the central choir, with its carved wooden stalls and statues representing the Passion of the Christ, is noteworthy. As part of the special LCHS at Notre-Dame experience, the La Cañada Choral Artists will be gathering in this one-of-a-kind spot for a few moments prior to their performance.
The trésor (treasury) in the southeastern transept contains artwork, liturgical objects and first-class relics; the admission fee includes a handy audioguide.
Surrounding the Cathedral are a number of stunning Parisian Hotels which are fortunate enough to enjoy magnificent views in its entirety. One of the best views of the cathedral is from square Jean XXIII, the little park behind the cathedral, where you can better appreciate the forest of ornate flying buttresses that encircle the chancel and support its walls and roof.
The Cathedral of Notre Dame is probably best known for its relation to the story of the Hunchback of Notre Dame, made famous by the numerous cartoons and movies inspired by it. However, it is the French Gothic Architecture that remains the biggest draw for visitors from around the world, an unrivaled, perfect example to this day.
